What is collected

From GitHub, when you sign in. Your username, display name, avatar, and the email address GitHub releases. Your repositories are never requested and cannot be read.

What you type in. Your profile, your work history, your projects, your updates, your posts, the comments you leave on other people's posts, and any file you upload — including a resume, if you add one.

Counts and logs. View, like and follower totals, which are not tied back to who did the viewing, plus ordinary server logs that include IP addresses.

Why

To sign you in, to attribute your work to you, to show your profile to people looking for builders, and to keep the site running. You are emailed when you claim your username, when you schedule your account for deletion, and when you restore it, through an email provider — there is no mailing list and nothing else is sent to you. None of it is sold, and none of it is used for advertising.

What is not collected

No advertising identifiers, and nothing that follows you to other sites. There is no analytics on the site: which pages get opened is not measured, and nothing is recorded beyond the counts and logs described above. No precise location either: the map on the home page places builders by the country they chose, and nothing narrower than a country is asked for or stored.

Cookies

One cookie remembers your language, a second keeps you signed in, and a third notes which profiles you have already opened so a view is counted once a day rather than on every reload. None of them follows you anywhere else. Whether you chose the light or dark theme stays in your browser. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing else to consent to.

The map on the home page

The map is drawn with map tiles served by CARTO, so opening the home page asks them for the images it needs and they see the request. They are not told who you are, and nothing about it is tied back to your account. Everything else the page needs is served from this site.

What is public

Your profile, your published projects and their updates, and your posts are visible to anyone and can be indexed by search engines. A comment you leave carries your name and sits on somebody else's post; they can delete it, and so can you. If you choose a country, it is shown with your name on the map on the home page; leaving it blank keeps you off that map. Your resume is not public unless you turn that on. Any file you upload is stored with a hosting provider and served from a public address, so hiding a resume takes it off your profile while deleting it is what takes it off the internet. Your email address is never shown on the site.

Your data

You can edit or delete anything on your profile. Deleting your account schedules it: everything stays up for 30 days so you can change your mind by signing back in, and is then erased from the site. You can also ask for a copy of your data, or ask for it to be corrected.
